Puff Counter - Quit Vaping

Effective Date: April 7, 2026 Last Updated: April 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Puff Counter - Quit Vaping (“Puff Counter,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this policy carefully. By downloading, installing, or using Puff Counter, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use Puff Counter, you may input the following data into the App:

This data is stored exclusively on your device using local on-device storage (AsyncStorage). We do not transmit, upload, or have access to any of this information. We do not operate servers that receive or store your personal data.

1.2 Information Collected by Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, which may collect certain information independently:

PostHog (Product Analytics) The App uses PostHog to collect anonymous product analytics that help us understand how the App is used and improve the user experience. PostHog may collect:

PostHog does not receive your name, email address, or the actual content of any health-related data you enter into the App (puff counts, plan parameters, weekly spend, etc.). PostHog event data is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or sale to third parties. PostHog’s collection and use of data is governed by their privacy policy, available at: https://posthog.com/privacy

RevenueCat (Subscription Management) RevenueCat processes in-app purchases and subscription transactions on our behalf. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat may collect:

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any health-related data you enter into the App. RevenueCat’s collection and use of data is governed by their privacy policy, available at: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

Expo (Application Framework) The App is built using the Expo framework. The production build of the App may periodically check for over-the-air (OTA) updates, which involves a network request to Expo’s update servers. This request may transmit your device’s IP address and basic device metadata (platform, app version) to Expo. No personal data, health data, or puff-related information is transmitted during this process. Expo’s privacy policy is available at: https://expo.dev/privacy

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:

We do not use advertising networks, ad identifiers, or cross-app tracking tools within the App. We use PostHog solely for first-party product analytics as described in Section 1.2.

2. How We Use Information

All puff logs, plan settings, and weekly spend data you enter remain on your device — we do not transmit or analyze the content of this data. The App does send anonymous product-interaction events (e.g., paywall viewed, button tapped) to PostHog as described in Section 1.2, in order to understand how the App is used and improve it. The App processes your data locally to:

None of this processing involves transmitting data off your device.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with any third party. We do not share data with:

The App integrates two third-party processors: PostHog (anonymous product analytics) and RevenueCat (in-app purchase processing). Neither receives your name, email, puff counts, plan parameters, or weekly spend. They only receive the data described in Section 1.2. Neither is used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or data brokerage.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

All data you enter into Puff Counter is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data is:

4.2 Data Security

Because we do not collect or transmit your data, there is no risk of a data breach on our end. The security of your locally stored data depends on the security of your physical device and your Apple account settings. We recommend that you:

5. Data Retention and Deletion

5.1 Retention

Your data persists on your device for as long as the App is installed and you choose to retain it. We have no ability to access or retain your data on any server.

5.2 Deletion

You can delete your data at any time by:

Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered by us or by you, as we do not maintain any copies.

6. Your Privacy Rights

6.1 Rights Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. Because Puff Counter does not collect, store, or process personal data on any server or system controlled by us, most data subject rights (access, rectification, portability, restriction of processing) are exercised directly on your device. You have the right to:

Health-Related Data (GDPR Article 9): The App may process data concerning health, such as puff counts and nicotine reduction progress, which constitutes a special category of personal data under GDPR Article 9. Because all such data is entered voluntarily by you and processed exclusively on your device — never transmitted to or accessible by us — we rely on your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)) as the legal basis for this processing. You provide this consent by voluntarily entering health-related data into the App, and you may withdraw it at any time by deleting your data or uninstalling the App.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Article 6): For general data processing that occurs locally on your device, the legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you provide by voluntarily entering data into the App. For purchase transactions processed by RevenueCat, the legal basis is performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).

6.2 Rights Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. We wish to inform you that:

Because we do not collect personal information on our servers, there is no data for us to disclose, delete, or correct on our end. All data is on your device and within your control.

6.3 Rights Under Other Jurisdictions

We respect privacy rights under all applicable laws, including but not limited to Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and Australia’s Privacy Act 1988. Regardless of your location, the fundamental principle remains the same: your data stays on your device, and we do not have access to it.

7. Children’s Privacy

Puff Counter is a vaping cessation tool and is not intended for use by children. The App is rated 17+ on the App Store due to its subject matter (nicotine and tobacco-related content).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international regulations regarding the collection of data from minors.

8. International Data Transfers

Because all user data is stored locally on your device, no international data transfers of your personal information occur through our systems. Purchase transactions processed by RevenueCat and Apple may involve data processing in jurisdictions outside your country of residence, subject to RevenueCat’s and Apple’s respective privacy policies and data processing agreements.

9. Do Not Track

The App does not engage in cross-app or cross-website tracking as defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework. We do not use the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), and we do not implement the AppTrackingTransparency prompt because no tracking occurs. The anonymous product analytics described in Section 1.2 are first-party only and are not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or used to build profiles across other apps or websites.

The App does not contain links to third-party websites or services within the core user interface. Subscription purchases are processed through Apple’s App Store, which is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy, available at: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy and, where practicable, provide notice through the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

12. Data Controller

For the purposes of the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, the data controller responsible for your personal data is:

Puff Counter Email: countpuffapp@gmail.com

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at the email address above.

If you are located in the EEA and have a concern about our processing of your personal data that we cannot resolve, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
